First of all... I AM NOT RACIST AGAINST ASIANS. For this assignment, we had to take a photo of ourselves and then exchange it with someone else in class so they could draw it. There was a bunch of drama going on between me, my friend, and the Asian girl whose portrait I drew - why, I still don't entirely understand. The whole "Goddamn those Asians..." was sort of a joke we came up with about the whole thing. I was like "Look, I really could care less about what you think of me, I just wanna be able to do my damn homework and get a good grade on it." If I had taken the reference photo myself, I would have put a LOT less cheek in it.
Overall, this is one of my favorite pieces that I've done this semester.
Yeah, I thought about that too. The lips were originally gonna be green, but I ended up throwing the blue in there in hopes of getting it to tie in with the hair/eyes better. I would have made them darker, but they were really light in the reference photo, so I chose to correspond with the tonal values of the original instead of using creative license to make them darker. Also, I kind of figured that if I had too much dark blue towards the bottom of the piece, it'd add too much weight at the bottom. Oh well.
Anyway, I really like this! I just love all the colours and I think they compliment each other pretty well (blue and orange being comlimentary colours to begin with, so that helps). Also I like the perspective of the drawing/photo. What medium is this, pencils or pastels?
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
